Respiratory device measurement, in the open.
PRISM is an independent precompetitive forum where respiratory-care leaders come together for the greater good of global respiratory care — building open, non-binding guidance on how device performance is measured, tested, and reported.
Positioning
A precompetitive forum — by design
PRISM is a precompetitive collaboration on respiratory device measurement — in the model of MDIC, C-Path and the Pistoia Alliance. Open methods, never endorsements.
What PRISM is
- A voluntary, non-commercial technical forum
- Precompetitive collaboration in the tradition of MDIC and C-Path
- A publisher of open, non-binding guidance
- A consensus-building community of individuals
What PRISM is not
- Not a regulator or certification body
- Not an accredited testing laboratory
- Not a route to product endorsement or ranking
- Not a legally constituted consortium with corporate members
Why PRISM
Shared methods for a fragmented problem
Open methods
Bench testing, waveform analysis, calibration and uncertainty — documented transparently so results can be understood and reproduced across the field.
Neutral forum
No product endorsements, no commercial rankings, no preferential treatment. Conflicts of interest and sponsor support are disclosed openly on everything we publish.
Practical guidance
Reporting templates, test-method discussions and consensus notes you can actually use — non-binding, versioned, and free for non-commercial technical benefit.
Founding phase · 2026
Be part of the evolution in respiratory care
PRISM is in its founding moment. The methods agreed by these first working groups will set how respiratory device performance is measured — and how those results are reported and compared — for the next decade of the field.
- Shape the methods themselves. First-cohort contributors author the consensus notes everyone after will cite.
- Small group, outsized influence. Each working group is forming now — a handful of contributors per group, by design.
- There is no second founding. Once the initial body of work lands, PRISM becomes about adding to an established record rather than defining one.
